...Well, he went out with a bang. Another townperson died overnight, one last body to add to the pile. It was frustrating, seeing good people die. But at least it hadn't been in vain.

Even with all your preparations, Metal Sonic was a formidable foe. Another one had turned up overnight, its skin melting away into a puddle resembling mercury more than blood. It was a gross reminder of what kind of abomination was going through town, killing all those who hadn't already been replaced. You didn't think it possible, but even those you knew well had been replaced at some point, only a metal husk left in their place. You didn't want to know what happened to the original... Maybe they were never in town in the first place. After all, it was rather odd that neither Sonic nor Tails, Knuckles nor Rouge, none of them had ever shown up during this half-week-long bloodbath. Not even Amy had arrived. Only Eggman and his creations, turned traitor through his neglect. A fitting end for a wretched man.

He had it coming, of course...but something still felt unfinished. Perhaps you'd simply wanted to get revenge on the man with your own hands. To be a mere spectator in this battle felt...odd. But maybe things were better this way. Peace had been restored to this poor town, and hopefully the world. Only time would tell. But there was something nice about it all, even with all the innocents who had perished along the way. Interesting, too, was the way the populace had banded together and managed to defeat enemies so much stronger than them. It reminded you of the days of the Resistance - perhaps the event had brought everyone together, that now when their tenuous peace was threatened, they immediately took action to nip in in the bud. No dictators allowed, as it were. It almost made you a little...proud. Maybe even without you there to protect them, the world would be alright. Maybe you could rest easy, finally.

N1 - I decided to trust starx and killed the hedgehog. It was done under the idea that Silver was sent to kill, but failed because of the witch redirect so then they revealed the redirect and lied about the action.
